3) Post Production (editing footage etc)
Out of the three stages of production this one was by far the most challenging. As we had to search through all the videos and put them into the correct order along with the soundtrack ensuring that the singer was in sync with the song. This took the most effort but we did successfully complete this. As we as a group don't have the best knowledge of the programme that we used which was final cut pro, it took us a while to play around with the different videos and cuts until they were in the right place and ran smoothly. We experimented with different appearances of each shot until our version was very similar to the actual music video, Trouble Town by Jake Bugg. We also ensured we matched the same cuts and shots as the actually video because if we hadn't then the timing would be out and we would have to film additional clips to fit in the time which could have complicated things and also wouldn't be as good of a replica as the real video.
2) Production (filming etc)
As we had produced a story board for the video, we followed this as closely as we could filming the music video in chronological order ensuring if we didn't have the correct surroundings to match the video we would change the surrounds and improvise with what we had. Firstly we filmed the road scene in a member of the group's car. Obviously we didn't have the time, equipment and area to produce a perfect replicate of 'Trouble Town' video but we tried our hardest to make it as good of a replicate as possibly. However the equipment which we were using if what we have used in previous task so we were all confident with how to use the equipment. The camera and tripod where fairly easy to use which gave our video a professional look. Overall the filming of the video was straight forward which could be down to the simple video we chose. We will defiantly challenge ourselves more for the final A2 music video.
1) Pre Production (story boarding, prop lists etc)
For this preliminary task our group chose to replicate Jake Bugg's version of 'Trouble Town'. All members in the group that i worked with enjoyed this genre of music so choosing a song and video that we all like made it easy for the group to produce a good video. We did search around and look at lots of different videos to see which could be realistic to replicate. This particular video we chose wasn't as challenge as others. To really test our skills and challenge us then next time we will pick a more difficult video to re-produce. However basic and simple videos i feel look good when replicated if done well, more complex videos being replicated could look tacky and unprofessional. Once we had decided on the video which we were going to use, then we produced a story board to help us produce the video. This split the video up into different shots and camera angles which made it easier for the Filmer to plan how each shot would be filmed and for how long. Then we planned out who would be the Jake in the video and made sure he would be wearing the correct clothing to suit his appearance and genre of music.
